TRISTE  "When nothing is expected and everything is appreciated, life becomes magical." It is very easy to focus on what you don't have, bit when we switch our perspective to think about what we do have. That is truly when we realize the beauty of our savior jesus christ! I know He lives. That's why I...

It's me again- journal entries

8/13/2024 Well it's me again. The last couple of days have seemed a little off. Not really sure why. Me Hermana Smith hasn't been getting along the best. Like something is just kinda off. I don't know if it is the fact that we know we are probably splitting up or if it is the competition side of things where we both don't really want to stay in this area but we know one of us is leaving. But we just had our last zone council of this transfer and it was interesting. Some guy off the street walked in the room and I thought for a second he was gonna pull out a gun and start shooting us or something. But he just said that he was baptized in our church and likes to share the gospel. But he also said he died like 17 times. Yesterday we were on whitier Blvd and thus guy stopped us aND said that the missionaries used to live by him and that one of them came to his door at like 12 at night and needed to use his phone aND that he smelt like alcohol. But we also made 2 new frien...

A note from Mom- Hey Sis

August 18, 2024 Hey sis, My day began at 6:30 this morning with a walk to the wash.  It was beautiful.  The early morning rain left the air crisp and fresh with dew and the clouds were swirling in shades of white and pink.  I walked swiftly, but took in my surroundings and counted my many blessings. Today, I teach gospel doctrine, Alma 43-52- the war chapters.  My take away?  The best offense is a good defense.  I love the leadership  of Captain Moroni.  He possessed an innate ability to strategize in efforts to defend his people.  But he also exercised great mercy and he knew when enough was enough. The Book of Mormon is powerful! Life here: First day back--- woot woot.  It went off without a hitch minus the fact that we didn't have power for the first two periods- yikes.  Thankfully, the power returned and I found my rhythm.  However, I do need to find my student teacher a chair of her own  desk....

Buenos Dias a Todos!

August 12, 2024 Today was crazzzzyyyy. I had Wendy's and talked to my family so overall It was a success!   bit much happened today. Hermana smith seemed to be grumpy but I am learning to not take things personally. Our recent convert christian I had a prompting to call him tonight and he told us his nephew got murdered on saturday. So it was really cool to just bare my testimony to him about the atonement. It truly is true that when we share our testimonies they do get stronger! 8/6/2024 Today was cool! Zone council was good. An elder brought me a mtn dew like I threatened him too haha. Grandpa rigby sent Me 60 dollars. So thanks dad hahah. There were 3 positives ttoday. 1 help a puppy. 2..super cool lesson with Katy Who is a recent convert. 3. A note from Mom- Good Morning Sunshine!

August 11, 2024 Hi sis, how are you Em?  I hope the sun is beautiful in California today.  I drew the short stick this morning; I had car wash duty.  It took me a bit, so I am rushing.  Thanks so much for the fun vlogs, and photos this past week.  They were so much fun. This past week has been awesome.  I have enjoyed being back to work with my friends and colleagues.  We have had just the right balance of trainings and independent teacher time.  We even had a "teacher retreat" on Tuesday with a very awesome speaker and axe throwing- no I did not throw the axe.  Student govt. is back at it.  Thursday was Freshmen orientation, Thursday was our car wash,  and yesterday morning we painted the bleachers.  So far, I am really impressed with this group- fingers crossed.  Last year was odd. Saturday was great- I baked bread and made cookies- put some in the mail to you and then I did some catch up stuff and figured out my ap...

August 4, 2024   Hermana,  Hey sis, my birthday week and last week of summer were epic! I don’t think 50 will be so bad after all.  Monday- Anniversary getaway was a blast. Dad, was so sweet and kind and truly spoiled me rotten! Our hike was hard, but oh so worth it.  Tuesday- I ironed my entire my closet- I want to be ready for school. I also set up my classsroom- ready or not here I come. Wednesday- ran errands, cleaned house etc. in the evening, I went to Suzanne’s house and watched a movie- so fun! Thursday- we watched maleck play football. He is one of two sophomores who got a locker! He scored and epic touchdown- one handed, and he dressed for varsity. I went to the play with my cv teacher friends to support Mrs Barrick- she of course was the star or the show. Friday- your birthday call started my day off just right- hiking at cedar breaks with Stockton and maleck, picnic in Stockton’s backyard. I went to the temple and did Initiatory, got a pedicure, enjoyed b...

A note from dad- a story and a challenge

Hello Hermana! Just a quick note to let you know I deposit money into your checking account, so the balance is back up to $500 as of today.   I have spent some time thinking about your progress and the different phases and transitions of missions and missionary work.  You have by far, gone through the most difficult phase of a mission!  No, that does mean that easy days are ahead, but with proper perspective, it will be easier to smile and press forward!  I want to encourage you to now begin to start finding other missionaries to support, just as you received support through your beginning phases.  This challenge, if headed, will bring you joy and self-confidence.  Let me present it to you with a story I listed to from Hank Smith’s Come Follow Him podcast:   “This comes from Elder H. Ross Workman. This is from a 2003 New Era, and he talks about his mission. He was a member of the 70 when he told this story. This was a long time ago. He was in co...

The Lord concencrates ALWAYS

Image
If I could take one thing out of this last week it is that the lord truly does concentrate our efforts! We were able to share so many restored truths with people and were able to make lots of new friends! Something I have had to learn is that he also trusts me. He put me in this area that is pure spaniah with someone as the same spanish skill level as me! HE MAKES IT POSSIBLE. GOD IS GOOD -found a family from nicuragua! They all sat down as we talked about the book of mormon  -found a guy in the park! The second time we met with him, we gave hime a book of mormon and he kissed it hahah -taught the relief society lesson in church and the spirit was so strong! El don de lenguas  -PLUS someone gave is papusas    -went to the temple with our ward and did the endowment session in spanish!!    You are all THE BEST! Have the bestest week ever Love yall Hna rigby Send me a letter  614 W foothill Blvd, Arcadia, CA 91006

Happy Anniversary- my week recap

7/23/2024 Today was crazy. I went on exchanges with Hermana G today, not going to lie. I did not want to. But it didn't end up being a good day! I learned that we actually have a lot in common and we had some good talks. We did some Whittier Blvd finding. It was pretty good! We got some numbers for English class tomorrow. We talked to some dope people. I also LOVED the package dad! I cried reading the letter. It helped me a lot today! And me and the hermanas just ended the night playing bocce ball outside on our lawn! So that was actually so fun! And tonight we had a cool miracle and this lady saw us sitting on the sidewalk, and she invited us into her backyard to have more privacy! So that was so cool! And we met a new mom on whittier blvd! Said we could call her tomorrow. We also ate some super good pupusas  7/24/2024 Today was absolutey awesome! It was pioneer day so for vision series we learned about pioneers and I shared the story of Jane Littlewood and how she is one o...

For my Emma who loves Jane

Image
Our Emma is serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the California Arcadia Mission. She is learning Spanish. This past Monday she hit her 6 month mark. It has not been easy for Em, but she has persevered. She has clung to her faith and the faith of her ancestors as she has sown her testimony. She also found Jane along the way. Centuries separate them, but they share their faith. The faith Jane began to sew in England in the early 1800's. Jane Lovenia Littlewood 1 October 1813- 23 April 1899 location: Isle of Man, England, UK (This is an island in the Irish sea between Great Britain and Ireland).
