Hi Em, 

It has been a great week- basketball, wandering in the small town with of fountain green, late night helping students with research papers, hiking with madsen near red cliffs, morning walk with Anne and Julene,  Saturday afternoon visit with my parents, side by side Saturday ride with dad- 

This is what I call a rich life! I have enjoyed my study of doctrine and covenants 18- the worth of souls is great—— our worth does not change and there is nothing we can do make it change. God loves us no matter what - Jesus died for each of us!

I hope you had a great week! I can’t wait to hear about your adventures.

Hey, Team Jesus,

It is a cold blustery Saturday morning today.  I just came home from my Saturday morning walk, and I am pausing to write you all a little snapshot of life lately and CV and beyond.  Or maybe I am putting off grading the 80 research papers that are piled on my desk....

On the same day that I hugged  Cole Spring hello, I hugged Elder Jace Farrow goodbye.  Tomorrow I will listen to Jaime Dolan testify of Jesus Christ as she reports her mission in her ward, and just like that Sister Shelby Zobell is beginning her mission testifying of Jesus Christin the MTC preparing for service in Texas. I really hope you all know how amazing you are.

Missionary News from the homefront

Bubbal Ludlow has been called to serve in the Nebraska, Omaha mission

Parker Cheney has been called to serve in the  Alaska, Anchorage mission

Derek Belnap has been called to serve in the Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico mission

Seth Morris, Brady Williams, Madsen Bergstrom,  and Dax Nicoll are in the process of submitting their papers- Woot Woot!

News from CVHS

Boys b-ball placed 5th at state- they were knocked into the constellation bracket by Judge Memorial- they were such a fun group of athletes to watch compete.

Girls' Basketball- Girls took state- the last time they took state was 19 years ago.  They beat Emery High School- the same team they defeated 19 years ago.  The first half was rough.  But after half, CV came out with determination and grit.  Macey Sorensen hit a clutch 3 that turned the tide of the game. Sorensen had not seen any action the entire game and came off the bench cold.  I still get cold chills thinking about this moment. It is a metaphor for life- it teaches us that as disciples of Jesus Christ we all have parts to play.  Some of us will have different roles to play- think of Joseph Smith, Emma, Martin Harris, The Whitmer family, Hryum- they all played a part.  We never know when we might be put in the "game."  We need to be ready to play!

And.... drum roll please- CVHS Esports won the state championship in Smash bros and Mario Kart.  You may smile a bit about this.  However, I love how E sports has provided a place for so many students to "belong."  It is so Awesome.

Their championship marks the 6th state championship this year- Boys' Cross Country, Volleyball, Drill, Girls' Wrestling, and Girls' Basketball.  AHHHHH CV!

I have loved studying Section 19 of the Doctrine and Covenants this week.  It is a revelation given to Martin Harris.  Now, for  most of us when we think of Martin Harris, we think of the lost 116 pages of the manuscript.  It is not very often that we think of all the good he did for the church. Such as he mortgaged his farm in order that Joseph Smith could have the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon printed- he sacrificed so much!  In Section 19 God commands Martin to repent and "impart a portion of thy property, even part of thy lands," Martin does so- he sold his farm.... I wonder if I would have such faith? Read Section 19 it is SOOOOOO GOOD!

 

Previously, in section 10 - go to  verse 23, Heavenly Father gives a recipe for happiness-

"Learn of me , and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me"

Love this verse sooo much!

I pray you are all learning to "walk like Jesus" (section 19:32")  

As I reflect on the craziness of the last week( I am gearing up for SBO elections, the end of the quarter and Junior Prom) the coolest thing happened on Friday as I was fastidiously grading papers during my prep.  Cooper Jones (the Mascot this year- some of you will remember him)  He walked in with a little grin on his face and told me he was getting baptized tomorrow.   I am so excited for him.

I wish I could deliver you all brownies, but perhaps some of you can make these ones- This is my favorite brownie recipe ever. It was my husband's mission president's wife's recipe

cream 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup butter and 2 eggs

Combine with 3/4 cup flourr and 1/4 cup cocoa

bake in 8x8 square pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes- so yummy!

Dad and I grabbed a drink and some peanut butter M&M’s and for a drive this afternoon. Of course I saw this old barn, and I had to stop!

I grabbed research papers all weekend- not much more than that

How do we qualify for the constant compound hip of the Holy Ghost

1. Be clean-“be ye therefore perfect.” Perfect means complete. 

We were a spirit first- we decided to follow God’s plan in the premortal experience

Seek out the guiding influence of Heavenly Father- seek daily influence- life is about choices. Every bad choice we make begins with a thought in our head. Flip the choice in your head. Take control of your thoughts and actions

Learn how to heat hum. Decide you are strong! Let your spirit take control of your body!

“My purpose is to live my life as to live my with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and my family forever.”

Do you know who you are?

You are a child of God!

The parable of the fat Man

Exercise, diet, discipline- contacts a doctor- put a plan in motion. 

One year later he is not younger, or better looking and not as skinny as he has hoped, but he is engaged in a process.  This much like our relationship with Jesus Christ- start the process, engage, become converted done a plan, start the exercise… the process.

Hermana Rigby,

Third quarter is over halllelujah!  I have spent most of the first of the week finishing the grading of papers. I still have a bit to do- ugh. 

Wednesday, dad, maleck and I drove to salt lake and stayed the night at  seleck and Leydi’s. Thursday morning leydi was sworn in as a citizen of the United States of America. Emma, who t was an incredible experience. 33 people were swore in at this ceremony. They were from 20 different countries. It was a powerful experience- of course I cried. 

Afterwards,  we enjoyed breakfast together to celebrate before dad and maleck went home. They picked up dad’s new suits and the new trailer en route. 

The next few days Leydi and I went shopping, exploring the zoo,, playing with Bella and we attended a relief society party- it was a great weekend. Yesterday, I hopped on a plane and flew home. 

This morning I got the car wash, and now I am at stake conference - everyone else is in Kanab shed hunting thankfully, I am sitting by the homes’ family so I am not alone

I have had many sweet moments this week with the spirit.  I love that the spirit comes in quiet moments in unexpected ways. 

I love you Emma, and I pray for the week that you have ahead. I know God loves  you Emma! You are beautiful!

Karaoke Night and ward "smoke" out!

Hey em,

How is chino? I hope you are loving it and finding you rhythm I can’t want to hear all about it!

Today I literally cleaned all day- scrubbed to toilets and the tubs, even the tile floors- ugh. 

School is driving me crazy- next week is prom, elections and the ACT! I hate March.

The elders quorum had a party tonight and a Karaeoke sing off at the shop—- so much fun. Jon Sutherland won the meat smoking contest and he and Anne stole the show with the karaoke.- it was a lot of fun!

Dad and maleck went to youth conference at Bryce canyon Friday night and got home this afternoon!

I had a super fun play date with Steele this past week. He helped pick out Maleck’s new suit for prom. 

I enjoyed Wednesday night buzzards with gma and gpa- they are so sweet and really appreciate visits. 

I loved studying CFM this week. I love Emma Smith!

Pray that I will survive prom week!

What a week!

It’s Sunday night and I am tired, but I couldn’t let the day end without telling you I love you! 

SBO elections are over, and Prom week was great, busy, and fun. Maleck had fun participating and I had fun watching him. His date wasn’t what he had hoped, but I think he learned a lot.

Tonight after Bella’s party I went over to the high school, so he and Austin could make campaigning posters.  Maleck is running for junior class president….

I am anxious to here how your week went.
